The International Arbitration Chamber for Fruits and Vegetables (CAIFL), created in 1967 by the European Union of Wholesale Trade, is headquartered in Strasbourg.
The association brings together organizations representing industry professionals from different countries (shippers, cooperatives, wholesalers, importers, exporters).
This association aims to facilitate the internationalization of trade in the fruit and vegetables sector by setting clear rules, grouped together in a code of practice: COFREUROP, written in German, English and French.
It also ensures the functioning of an arbitration court that is able to resolve commercial disputes. Problems arising during the commercial exchange of perishable goods are very specific, that is why recourse to the CAIFL avoids any discussion on the territorially competent jurisdiction, and ensures the final settlement of the dispute in times inferior to legal jurisdictions common.
